IT in Polish words rather than loans — and in the Polish slang for when it breaks. Where the word does a second job, and what the system does when it crashes.

Wąskim gardłem jest baza danych, nie serwer.
The bottleneck is the database, not the server.
Polish keeps the English image — a narrow throat — where Russian says узкое место, a narrow place. Used for code, for traffic and for the one colleague who has to approve everything.

Aplikacja wysypała się zaraz po aktualizacji.
The app crashed right after the update.
Literally to spill out, like grain from a torn sack. In IT slang, aplikacja się wysypała — the app crashed. Znowu się wysypało is the sentence of every release day. Wysyp, the noun, is something else: a sudden glut, as in wysyp grzybów.

Download the update and restart.
Pobierz is the button; ściągnąć is what people say. The same verb takes money and blood — bank pobiera prowizję, pobrać krew — so pobranie is not only a download. Upload is wgrać or przesłać.

Zrzut, a dump, from zrzucić, to throw down — the same word as a database dump. In speech it is screen; in a bug report it is zrzut ekranu, and you zrobić one rather than take it.

The support ticket and the bug report: zgłosić błąd is to report a bug; RU тикет has no accepted Polish loan. The same word enters you for a course or a race — zgłoszenia do końca maja.

Access rights on a server, entitlements off it: nadać uprawnienia is to grant them, uprawnienia budowlane a builder's licence, and a driving licence lists them by category. Plural in every menu.

Said in full, every time — zrobić kopię zapasową, przywrócić z kopii. Zapasowy is spare: koło zapasowe, klucz zapasowy. Backup as a loan lives in speech and in no Polish interface.

Three environments: the natural one, ochrona środowiska; a social one, środowisko IT; and the one you deploy to, testowe or produkcyjne. RU среда covers two of them; Polish środa is only Wednesday.

That plugin slows the whole browser down.
The plug in the wall and the plugin in the browser — one diminutive of wtyk. RU вилка is the plug and the fork; Polish keeps widelec for the fork, and gniazdko is the socket the wtyczka goes into.

From domyślać się, to guess — the default is what the system assumes when you say nothing. Domyślnie is 'by default', one word for RU по умолчанию. The older sense, quick on the uptake, survives.
