Jeden czasownik: STAWIAĆ

Standing and putting. The last of the prefix families, and by now you should be able to guess most of them before you read the gloss.

  1. postawić

    verb · perfective

    EN
to put, to stand something up; to buy a round
    RU
    поставить

    EN
    to leave (something behind)
    RU
    оставить

    Zostawiłem klucze w domu.

I left the keys at home.

Leaving a thing, not a place — for leaving a place you need wyjść or wyjechać. Russian makes the same split.

  3. przedstawić

    verb · perfective

    EN
    to introduce; to present
    RU
    представить

    Przedstawię cię zespołowi.

I'll introduce you to the team.

    RU
    выставить

to add (a chair, a table)
    RU
    приставить, добавить

    Dostawimy jeszcze jedno krzesło.

    We'll add another chair.

do- adds, physically. Not to be confused with dostarczyć, to deliver, which sounds close and is a different verb.

  7. odstawić

    verb · perfective

    EN
to put aside; to come off (a medicine)
    RU
    отставить; бросить (принимать)

    RU
    поставить (чайник); настроить

Put the water on for tea.

Nastawiony pozytywnie means positively disposed — the same verb setting a kettle and setting a mind.

  9. rozstawić

    verb · perfective

    EN
to set out, to space apart
    RU
    расставить

    Rozstawili stoły w ogrodzie.

roz- scatters — the same prefix as rozpisać and rozrabiać, now doing it to furniture.

  10. wstawić się

verb · reflexive, perfective, + za + instr.

    EN
to stand up for, to put in a word for
    RU
    заступиться (за кого-то)

Wstawił się za mną u szefa.

He put in a word for me with the boss.

Takes za plus the instrumental. Without się, wstawić is simply to insert something.
